  • Yasushi Ohmoto (1926-2014) was from Hokkaido and served in the Japanese army during the Pacific War

  • After surviving the war, he then began to study the arts and graduated from Meiji University in 1951

  • One of his teachers was Fumio Kitaoka, a principal figure in the sosaku hanga (creative prints) movement

  • Ohmoto’s works are Sosaku style with his subjects mainly landscapes and scenes from nature, especially of Hokkaido

  • All calendar prints are unsigned - sourced from woodblock print specialist shop in Jimbocho
