Tomikichiro Tokuriki (1902-2000) was a Sousaku hanga (creative prints) artist who mainly featured Kyoto scenes in his work
After WWII he set up his own publishing company, producing woodblock print postcards of his designs as well as other artists
This print is an original by Tokuriki, marked “Tomi” for “Tomikichiro” in the left hand bottom corner
Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto is the head of over 30,000 Inari Shrines in Japan
Fox figures guard Inari shrines and are thought to be messengers of Oinari, the deity of food, farmers, and rice harvest
This print features the famous Senbon Torii (Thousand Torii Gates)
