Pre-1935 Vintage Soroban (Abacus)
Gotama (five bead) soroban, dating back to pre-1935
In 1935 (Showa 10), the "Outline of Arithmetic Education" was created and the soroban became a compulsory subject in elementary schools
At this time, the soroban also changed its lower section from having five beads to four
This soroban was used as an accounting tool by the store “Kawase Shouten” - store name marked on the back
Also marked is “Denwa (Telephone) 329”
